THEN. NOW. NEXT.

Santati – MAHATMA GANDHI THEN. NOW. NEXT. is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary. It features multidisciplinary artists that have created works that best represent their interpretation of Mahatma Gandhi and his message, amidst the larger, primary canvas of Khadi, striving not to preach or idolize. Their work will display, instead, the very core of Gandhi’s message – that another way is possible. With their imagination, they pierce the heart of possibility and come together joined by a common thread, spun with love

Conceptualised and co-curated by Ms. Lavina Baldota along with National Gallery of Modern Art, the exhibition is supported by Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Culture and KVIC and  is sponsored by The Abheraj Baldota Foundation.

The exhibition will include khadi saris with woven visuals by textile designer Gaurang Shah, installations by KLOVE and Ashiesh Shah, couture embroidery by Jean Francois Lesage, khadi installations by fashion designers Gaurav Gupta and Rajesh Pratap Singh, and experiential poetry by Navkirat Sodhi.

The NGMA and the Raja Ravi Verma Heritage Foundation will also be exhibiting a variety of the artist’s paintings and lithographs.

The exhibit will also display a distinctive part from the private collection of Kishore Jhunjhunwala, a leading and avid collector of all objects Gandhi, for  over 50 years.
